I’m Christie, let’s skip the awkward intro and jump into some cold hard truths...

I hate having my own photo taken. Posed school photos are my idea of torture! I will never force you to straighten your shoulders or fake a smile.

I’m an avid iPhone camera user (there I said it). I can’t deny the versatility of a quick snap that fits in my pocket. I live in constant fear of breaking my ‘real’ camera, don’t worry though, I’ll bring the ‘real’ one out for you.

I started my first business when I was sixteen, selling gingerbread houses to friends and family. I’ve continued to bake gingerbread every year since. Gingerbread helped buy my text books for uni. and paid for my wedding!

I don’t dismiss seasonal photography and am happy to rub shoulders with the big man in the red suit. Christmas is my favourite time of year (refer to Point 3)! It’s not about the presents, it’s the handwritten cards, homemade gifts and backyard BBQs, that bring people together in the most beautiful of ways. Christmas Minis are just my way of helping that process along…

I find peace in the little things - the way afternoon light filters through the kitchen window and settles on the kettle, or the imperceptible smile that lingers on my son’s face when he’s quietly reading on the couch. Fleeting details linger in my memory long after the chaos of daily life fades and it’s those little moments that I want to help you capture.

Bay and Bloom has grown from that love of noticing, it’s come from my own desire to slow down and document all the little connections that make life all the more rich. Whether we’re in the studio, wandering along a trail or chasing golden light beside the bay, my hope is to help you capture the magic that comes from being together and the little moments in between…
